How to reach Tivoli
The city of Tivoli is located 32 km (19.8 miles) north-east of Rome.
It is easily accessible by:
CAR:
- Via motorway along the A24 Rome – L’Aquila, EXIT Tivoli or Castel Madama
- State Road Tiburtina heading North – East
BUS:
- Cotral Bus terminus in Rome Ponte Mammolo (metro B): Via Tiburtina State Road/ or A24
TRAIN:
- Rome – Avezzano – Pescara line from Tiburtina Railway Station (metro B) or, only at certain times, from Termini Railway Station (metro A and B)

ADVICE:
If you are coming by car, we recommend you the motorway A24, Tiburtina state road is very busy! Parting from Rome it takes between 40 minutes and an hour time (barring unforeseen circumstances!).
If you are undecided between bus and train, we recommend you the train. Less traffic, more comfortable, it offers you a great panorama! Due to the presence of the Travertine Quarries, the route is longer and the train takes about an hour time. So you will have the opportunity to reach Tivoli, enjoying the magnificent landscape.
BEWARE: Get off at Tivoli and NOT at Tivoli Terme !!!

It starts from Tivoli, UNESCO World Heritage site for its magnificent historical and natural places such as Villa Adriana, Villa d’Este and Villa Gregoriana.
Just in front of the latter, the long adventure begins, which will lead you after almost 200 km (124 miles) and 16 steps into the heart of Abruzzo, Latium and Molise National Park, to Civitella Alfedena!
This first step, pleasant, short and not too demanding, develops for a large part along the ridge of Monte Catillo Reserve, crossing the beautiful and unique Sughereta di Sirividola (Photo) and approaching several peaks.
The views over Tivoli, the Roman countryside and the middle-low Aniene valley are very suggestive.
Before the most sustained climb, which will allows you to reach the last step in the village of San Polo dei Cavalieri, you will find a drinking trough to fill the water bottles.
